The Drakkar, or "dragon ship," was the symbol of Viking audacity. Named by King Olaf Tryggvason “Ormen Lange” (Long Serpent), this impressive warship adorned with a dragon head figurehead could reach considerable sizes, up to 48 meters in length.
Its structure, protected by high sides and characterized by overlapping planks, ensured lightness and extreme maneuverability, allowing it to navigate difficult waters thanks to the bow at both ends.
