The Epic of the Titanic

 The RMS Titanic (or SS Titanic) was one of the largest transatlantic liners along with the Olympic and Britannic of the White Star Line company. One of the most famous and tragic ships in history, it embarked on its maiden voyage in 1912 in Belfast, destined to forever mark the panorama of transatlantic navigation.

A Mirage of Luxury and Innovation

The Titanic was much more than a mere ship; it was a symbol of progress and power. With a length of 269 meters and a capacity of over 2,400 passengers and crew members, this ocean giant offered luxurious accommodations, first-class restaurants, and state-of-the-art services. 

The myth of its presumed unsinkability was created by the press and was due to the fact that the liner could sail even with four completely flooded watertight compartments.

The Tragic Fate of a Legend

Despite its fame, the Titanic is destined to be remembered primarily for its tragedy. On April 14, 1912, during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, the ship struck an iceberg in the heart of the Atlantic Ocean and sank, causing the loss of over 1,500 lives. 

This tragedy, in which about 40% of first-class passengers and 70% of third-class passengers lost their lives, shocked the entire world. The sinking of the Titanic remains one of the greatest maritime tragedies of all time, leaving an indelible mark on humanity's collective memory.
